EDITATION RETREATS:
- 5.5 Days Meditation Retreat:
The 5.5 day Silent Meditation Retreat is a unique addition to the Agama Yoga system. The retreat was created primarily to give those students who have been going through the one month intensive a chance to take what they have been learning and to work with it in a retreat environment thus giving them additional confidence in meditation and the momentum to continue with their own personal practice before leaving the center; this is done partially by giving students a chance to have 4 practices which are self-led. Still, because of it’s length and affordability, it may also be perfect for those not yet familiar with the Agama system and who do not have a full 10 days to experience our regular 10 day silent meditation retreats. We recommend past hatha yoga or meditation experience for aspirants but do not limit it to those with a strong desire for the experience. The schedule will be a mix of waking early, doing Agama style hatha yoga individually or with a teacher, Buddhist walking and sitting meditation, visualization techniques, internal mantra meditation (laya yoga), shared meals (part of the period will be an ultra basic whole grain macrobiotic diet), Karma Yoga, evening talks and Q and A. There will be some break times and the retreat will be in vocal silence. Students are encouraged to stay on site but exceptions will be made. From day 3, the retreat will be combined with the regular final days of the Agama Yoga course, including some inspiring evening talks. Please note that for those who would like to join and who have already paid for the one month course, this is an additional cost and teaching not included in the regular course.
-10 Days Meditation Silent Retreat:
Next retreat from 22 January 2010
From December 2009, we will be opening our second yoga hall and center in the Mazunte area, Tierra Verde (Green Earth). One of the primary role of this center will be to offer affordable but potent silent meditation retreats monthly open to any serious and mentally healthy aspirant. First month studens will be unable to join because of scheduling but for those Agama students continuing to levels 2 and 3 and with a strong aspiration, we cannot emphasize enough the benefit of such an experience. For this reason we are organising the dates in a way that Month 2 and Month 3 students will be able to join without having their own classes to attend to, starting from the Friday night after week 2 and ending 10 days later. These retreats will be silent retreats with the exception of a question and answer period and will include walking and sitting meditations, Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, introduction to various techniques from Jnana and Tantra, possible evening talks depending upon the retreat theme, meals and shared dorms. Prices for the event, including meals, shared dorm and the retreat itself are 4000 pesos. Private rooms may be available at 2 person minimum for an additional cost. One hour massages to support the practionner at an additional cost will also be available generally. When choosing to take these 10 days of introspection and guidance, please consider that Tierra Verde is situated in the nature, the rooms, beds and pathways are basic and the overall environment is based upon an ecological vision and may be a new experience for people who have lived only in the city.
